How to search for all keywords?
« on: June 29, 2010, 08:26:19 AM »
I tried the search "Sinéad O'Connor 1988" to find all tracks by Sinèad O'Connor dated from 1988, but in the search result were other tracks listed which only have the keyword "1988" in common to my search keywords.

How can i do such a search: Sinéad AND O'Connor AND 1988?

You can't really search by year, per se, it all depends on what the uploader has decided to put in their tags, description and video title.

So some uploads have the year as part of their searchable metadata, others don't.

Hi David, perhaps you misunderstand my problem. I've searched for keywords "Sinéad" / "O'Connor" / "1988" and 1988 is a keyword here like Sinéad and O'Connor. But Muziic shows tracks in the search results that have nothing to do with Sinéad O'Connor, this is my problem. Is this a known issue?

You're seeing those likely because there are no relevant results that include Sinead AND O'Connor AND 1988

Ok, but i don't want to see these extra search results because they don't fit to my search query and therefore are unwanted. Any chance that you change this behaviour?

It's standard search engine behavior, and it makes sense.

See, this is only happening because there are limited results containing "Sinead" and "O'Connor" and "1988" -- so it starts improvising to try to find what you're looking for.

Notice it has a few relevant results at the top of your search for "Sinead O'Connor 1988" -- that's because those results DO contain all keywords.

Another example: When i search for "Pink Floyd", why do you show an album by P!nk in the album results section?

Well, because it contains the word "pink" -- in the future we'll hopefully make the search mechanism for albums more relevant.

i agree with david. its a natural behavior bro. if the search engine doesnt get proper match then they usually returns this type of results. its not a new thing.

That would be great. Enter "Jan Garbarek" in the search box and look for the album results. All of them are totally wrong....

Just an update... some new features have been rolled out to our Web Player that resolves this issue.

Not only will searching for "pink floyd" now give priority to more relevant albums, you may also now click "View More Album Results" to see all matching albums.

New feature needs some finetuning:

Where are the albums by AC/DC for example, that were shown before the new web player update?

Has to do with the amount of characters before the / slash. When our database indexes are rebuilt tonight that will be fixed. Thanks
